No Standardized Terms<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

These terms are not standardized and mean whatever the supplier using them wants them to mean.<\/em><\/span> These suppliers are not necessarily being misleading about their essential oils, yet the terms they are using are not standardized within the industry to meet any specific criteria.<\/span><\/p>\n

Organic,\u00a0Unsprayed, or Wildcrafted<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Look for oils that are organic as a first choice. Any pollutants on the plants can be more concentrated in the essential oil. This is especially important for citrus essential oils, as they are traditionally heavily sprayed with pesticides.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Organic Meaning<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

The term \u201corganic\u201d means different things in different countries, but it is one more possible indicator of quality. Some retailers also carry oils that are \u201cunsprayed,\u201d where the farms are not certified as organic, but they do not spray their crops, and many high quality oils are also wildcrafted.<\/span><\/p>\n
